The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is currently looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, reliable, detail-oriented and dedicated intern to provide administrative and office support. 

Position Summary:

The Administrative Intern is responsible for providing administrative and office support to the CWC staff, with a focus on development.  As an Administrative Intern at CWC, you will gain and expand/improve your administrative skills, learn the ins and outs of how a not-for-profit organization works, gain insight into membership/outreach activities and participate in the planning and implementation of various events.

Responsibilities may include:

 -Answer phone calls in a professional, friendly manner and direct them to the appropriate staff member

-Draft and send solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, event invitations and other correspondence to members, volunteers and other parties

 Maintain donor database with data entry and updates

 -Use and management of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) to communicate with supporters, volunteers and the general public

 -Draft ads, articles and press releases for submission to a variety of media outlets such as print, radio and internet 

-Create brochures, flyers, fact sheets

 -Respond to donor inquiries and concerns via phone, email, mail and social media

 -Assist with the planning and implementation of various events 

-Other projects and general office duties as necessary

Skills & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong work ethic
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong writing, communications and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient command of English grammar and spelling
  • Proficiency in MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with Access, Publisher and/or InDesign (a plus but not required)
  • An interest in nonprofits and environmental issues/conservation helpful


  • Flexible start date
  • Minimum 15-20 hours/week; hours are flexible
  • 3- or 6-month commitment


 -This is an unpaid internship.  CWC cannot provide housing or transportation.
