About the event

Join us for an on-water citizen science survey on Friday, August 25th at 8:30 AM!

We’ll start out with covering the basics of Chautauqua Lake’s known and new invasive species, how to document sightings of them, and how to report them using iMapInvasives. We’ll then search for aquatic invasive species (AIS), particularly water chestnut, in the Chautauqua Lake Outlet, and if any are found, record their location and carefully remove them. We'll meet up and launch from McCrea Point Park in Celoron.

Participation is free but limited to 10 paddlers. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP to our Seasonal AIS Coordinator Sandra Emke at ais@chautauquawatershed.org.

Please note:

  • Participants will need to bring his/her own kayak or canoe and personal protective equipment (life jackets).
  • The date/time is weather permitting. Any changes will be noted on our website and social media.
