If you want to know you’re making a difference for clean, healthy water and habitats, you’ve come to the right place!
Volunteering with the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy gets you directly involved in the conservation of our watershed. We have volunteer positions for all kinds of interests and personalities! These are some of the areas in which we need your help:
Invasive Species Action Team
Several harmful invasives are creeping their way into our area-or worse, they’re already here! We need volunteers to help monitor our Preserves for the occurrence of new species such as the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and the Emerald Ash Borer, and to help control invasive plants. No prior experience or invasive knowledge is necessary-we can teach you everything you need to know!
House Party Hosts
Want to help spread the word about what can be done to help the lake and other waterways in Chautauqua County? Host a CWC get-together at your home or cottage for your friends and neighbors this summer! You will learn what you as an individual can do to reduce runoff, nutrients and topsoil reaching the lake, as well as what your neighborhood or association can do to collectively reduce storm water runoff and control the factors fueling lake algae and plant growth.
Operations Team Members are the unsung heroes of the CWC! They work behind the scenes in our office to help us keep things running smoothly. There are tasks available to fit even busy schedules.
If you’re a "people person" and want to spread the word about conserving and protecting our waters, the Outreach Team is for you! Outreach Team Members act as CWC ambassadors at local fairs and other events by setting up a display table and talking to the public about the CWC’s work and mission.
